| • Chevillotte ‘s story.
In 1860, Eugene Chevillotte started a travelling business which produced and sold special good to Cafés. His business grew very fast; in order to face the demand he settled in Orléans and opened his first store. In that time every café had a billiard table and the demand for this type of item and all the related accessories was iNCReasing tremendously.
After 1900 Eugène Chevillotte, help by his son Remi who joined the family business, got specialized into billiard tables and slowly bought over other small local billiard manufacturer such as Fouqueau - Lacan, Rabini and Marion.
In 1924, Rémi Chevillotte opened a brand new store in Orléans with a workshop. Rémi’s son, Guy Chevillotte who was born in 1916, also joined the company.
Eugène, Rémi and Guy were all good billiard players and they constantly looked for new features and development to improve the quality of their tables and the pleasure of playing.
After World War II, in 1946 Guy Chevillotte got even more involved in the billiard sports, participating in the development of competitions at a national level.
In 1960, Guy Chevillotte created a billiard table that will represent a real revolution in the billiard world: The Europa model was a complete innovation in terms of frame structure and design. This table has been a reference in the billiard world for a long time and the latest version of this model, The Europa Master model, still is.
In 1950 and 1951, Claude and Monique Chevillotte were born. The children of Guy will also join the family business and participate in its development.
Claude Chevillotte graduated from the prestigious design school of Paris “l’Ecole Boule”, he took over the family business in the 70’.
In 1971 Chevillotte bought over a very famous billiard manufacturer operating from Bordeaux, the Prestable Company. This new division will allow Chevillotte to develop its operation in the wine region and it also to acquire a workshop truly specialized in antique table restoration.
In 1978, the activities of Chevillotte had grown so much that there was a need to expand the facilities in order to cope with the development especially of the demand of billiard and pool tables for private homes. The company built a large modern factory in the Orléans surroundings.
In 1988, the new factory surface was doubled to follow the development of the business.
In the mid 90’, Christophe Chevillotte, Claude’s son, joined the company to create the export department and develop the international sales of the company.
Today, Chevillotte is the leader in its domestic market and is largely represented worldwide through an extensive distribution network. |
